Bob came back;
he’s a Yankee you know
Bob’s a
Christian but he doesn’t miss Cisco
Bob said the thing
to do is to live in a retirement village in Denver, Colorado.
Bob said he and
Jean found a place to live and if they ever get old they will stay there
There are places
to eat, and a theatre; no meals to prepare and probably some adjustable rocking
chairs
But Bob came back;
he’s a Yankee you know
He came back not for the theatre but to smile and say hello
He came back to say be on time and a be a trusty fellow
Be your Christian self but be assertive and say no
You don’t have to explain, as gossip wants to flow
Make your visits and be on schedule
Report in and keep the proper records
Make your meetings a very high priority
Your visits don’t have to last forever; 5 or 10 minutes might do.
If you have trouble getting someone to shake your hand use candy for that.
Bob said “No I didn’t start the Stephen Ministry but happen to know who did.”
We said “Bob we know you did.”
Bob worked months organizing, planning, researching, and pushing
Saying you either have to do it right or don’t do it
What the care receiver says has to be confidential; you can’t use sessions as gossip parties or the program won’t work.
Bob’s a Yankee,
you know, but we don’t care because he’s a Christian too.
Bob came back, and
we love him too.
