Father’s Love Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you pushed the dog away and didn’t let him lick me in
the mouth. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you offered to give me a ride on your motorcycle.
But I didn’t like the noise, it scared me.
So you didn’t make me do it. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you walked with me and helped me up on the big green
tractor. We made noises and played like we were driving it. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you helped me up on your shoulders and you let me spin
the ceiling fan myself. That was
cool. If I were tall like you I could do that a lot. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you played trucks with me and taught me to make the
funny sounds that trucks make. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you let me sit on your stomach and you made me giggle. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you taught me to tinkle on a weed when no one was
looking. I told everyone about
that. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you taught me where cow poop came from and which piles
were the best ones to kick. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you taught me not to walk up and down on the piano
keyboard. It was a lot of fun
though. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you taught me that not everything that I learned at day
school, like pushing someone, would work as well at home. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you made me stand in time out when I did things I
wasn’t supposed to be doing. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you taught me how to operate the VCR so I could watch
Blues Clues as many time as I wanted to. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you made me give back my brother’s toys and handed me
one of my own. I wanted his too. Father’s Love. It was father’s love when you made those funny faces and taught me how to make some too. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you taught me how to pray for everybody. Father’s Love. It
was father’s love when you said you were afraid of the monster in the book too
and always acted relieved when I closed the book and put it away. Father's Love. It was father's love when you took your turn changing my diapers. I am glad we are past that now, I knew there had to be a better way. (c) by Papa Jerry 6-8-00 Index |
